Kotlet (Meat Patties)

Are you ready for some MEAT PATTIES (AKA Kotlet in Farsi)? This is the type of food that’s fantastic HOT, COLD, OR ROOM TEMP and great for those quick lunches on the go. I have lots of found memories of my mom in the kitchen cooking one of these and little me waiting anxiously to grab the first one out of the pan. They were and still are very addicting and I can never stop at having only one.

2 large potatoes

1 LB ground beef or lamb

1 medium onion(grated)

2 eggs

1tsp salt

1tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp turmeric

1 cup neutral oil(for cooking)


1)Boil the potatoes until fully cooked, then proceed to peel and grate them finely.

2)In a bowl, place all of the ingredients mentioned above and knead it for about 5 min or until its fully incorporated.

3)Get your hand damp and get about half cup portion and start shaping them into an oval shape and then finally flatten them. They can also be shaped into round patties as well.

4)Next, warm your skillet on a medium heat and pour about 1/2 cup of oil and start placing the Kotlets into the skillet to brown on both sides. Keep an eye on the oil level after each batch.

5)When cooked/browned, place them on a paper towel lined tray to drain any excess oil. Serve immediately or room temp. This goes great with any kind of bread, baked fries, sliced tomato or whatever you feel appropriate. ENJOY!
